Eco-Planet Gluten Free Hot Cereals not only taste great, they are a really healthy choice. We sampled two flavors for our review: Apples & Cinnamon and Maple & Brown Sugar. We loved them! The mixture of different whole grains adds interest to the texture of the cereal, yet it has a nice creaminess. They are not overly sweet. Evaporated cane juice is used instead of refined sugar. This and cinnamon are very lightly applied. The mix of grains is delicious enough to not need over-sweetening.

Gorilla Munch

EnviroKidz is the Nature’s Path product line aimed at children and the people who feed them. This product line consists of organic, gluten free cold cereals and cereal bars that taste pretty close to their gluten counter parts. I cannot say they are that much more healthy than many cereals normally offered to children. However, when you consider how difficult switching to a gluten free diet can be, especially for a child who’s peers can eat commercial junk food cereals, this product becomes a bit more special.

LeapinLemurs

Each EnviroKidz flavor is named after an endangered or threatened species. We sampled two of the five available flavors of cereals. Gorilla Munch is a simple cornmeal and sugar cereal similar to Kix but sweeter. Leapin’ Lemurs is a peanut butter and chocolate flavored cereal which could be compared to Reese’s Puffs.

In addition to having delicious, crunchy, organic and gluten free cereal inside, each box has an image of the cute, endangered or threatened animal it is named after on the front, detailed information about the preservation of that animal on the back, and a portion of sales is donated toward saving that animal and its environment. Gluten-Free Rice Chex

has come to the rescue. Last year they modified their ingredients for Rice Chex Cereal to make it gluten-free while maintaining its trademark tastiness. Now they are tackling variety by releasing more flavors reformulated as gluten-free. Corn, Honey Nut, Strawberry, Chocolate, and Cinnamon Chex are all currently in production and scheduled to start appearing on store shelves June 1st, 2009. The manufacturer, General Mills, has replaced the barley malt syrup with molasses in and effort to make these products gluten-free without taking away any of the crunchy, oven toasted yumminess they are known for. If you already like the Chex Rice cereal, or have been looking for a new breakfast or snack option then you are in for a treat.
