Craving a pick-me-up-snack, I grabbed a Pamela’s Peanut Butter Oat Up Bar. I’d never tried one before, and wasn’t sure what to expect when I opened the small, enticing yellow package. The wrapper simply says it’s gluten-free and organic, and that it contains peanut butter but when I went to the Pamela’s website I got a better sense of what the bar would taste like –  “oatmeal on the go.”

Opening the wrapper, the bar itself did look a bit like oatmeal in a square. I expected it to be super crumbly but was pleasantly surprised with how well it held together after my first bite. The taste was semi-sweet with the flavor of peanut butter enhancing as I chewed. While a tad dry, it would pair nicely with a morning coffee or afternoon tea.

This easy-to-pack-and-bring-anywhere snack also impressed me with its healthy attributes. It boasts 15g of whole grains per serving and includes 15mg of omega-3 fatty acids. It’s vegan, kosher, a good source of fiber, and of course, certified gluten-free. All of this leads me to declare the Oat Up Bar a great snack for keeping in desk drawers, backpacks, purses and gym bags for whenever a healthy treat is needed!
