If you’ve followed my posts on Gluten-Free Hot Products, then you know I’m a huge fan of quick and easy meals. With all of the holiday shopping and family gatherings this weekend, I was definitely in need of a quick meal, so I thought it would be the perfect time to try out Jovial Foods Brown Rice Pasta.
One of my go-to dinners is a pasta dish, topped with steamed broccoli, red, yellow and orange peppers, garlic, grilled chicken and a whole lot of spices. Since my cupboards were slightly bare this weekend, I had to forgo my peppers and chicken, but I made a quick substitute with some pre-sliced salad almonds for that extra crunch. One of the many things I learned in college is that when you’re out of olive oil to make a light oil and garlic sauce for pasta, a vinaigrette-type salad dressing works just as well (if not better). So, short on time and oil, I reached for my salad dressing to toss on the steamed broccoli, pasta and almond slices.
I was pretty pleased with the pasta. It finished cooking in a flash and it was not gummy or mushy in the least. I didn’t have any issues with the pasta sticking to each other and I thought it had a great flavor. It was comparable to wheat pasta in its shape and texture, but it had a different taste to it (but not in a bad way at all). Have you ever eaten pasta that sort of went to mush after you added a red sauce on top? Even though I went with a light dressing instead of a heavy sauce, I definitely think the brown rice pasta can hold up a nice, thick sauce with some spaghetti and meatballs.
So, next time you’re short on time but don’t want to skimp on flavor, give Jovial Foods’ Brown Rice Pasta a try. Let me know what you think!
