NFCA volunteer Laura Hanley of G-Free Laura submitted the below review of Wellaby’s Gluten-Free Snacks.
As a former Cheez-It lover, you can imagine how happy I was when an assortment of Wellaby’s gluten-free crackers showed up at my door. I instantly tore open the packaging, and got my taste buds ready to test out this brand of crackers, particularly excited for the bags of Cheese Ups snacks.
In an attempt to keep it simple and see if these snacks would live up to my high expectations, the first flavor I tried was the Classic Cheese. After just one bite of these triangle-shaped, air-puffed snacks, I was in LOVE. They tasted JUST LIKE the cheesy Goldfish crackers I would go to town on back in my gluten-eating days! After realizing just how amazing the Cheese Ups were, I proceeded to house the rest of the bag.
I also received the Parmesan flavor of the Cheese Ups and was just as impressed with those. This snack has the perfect balance of cheese, and does not leave you feeling like a fatty, because all of the ingredients are natural. This is especially good for me, because when I like something as much as I like this snack, I have no self control.
Wellaby’s also sent me an assortment of crackers, both mini and regular sized. Being the snacker that I am, I was very happy to have some new and exciting additions to my lunch box. The Mini Crackers I received were Classic Cheese flavor, as well as Grated Parmesan. They were the perfect thing to pop in my mouth at work, and they had no aftertaste like some other gluten-free products. They also did not make my mouth dry as some products tend to, leading me to thoroughly enjoy them!
The full sized cracker flavors I tried were Classic Cheese, Parmesan & Sun-Dried Tomato, Feta Oregano & Olive Oil, and Rosemary. All of these flavors were of course very tasty as well! I particularly liked the Parmesan & Sun-Dried Tomato, and did not have to garnish the crackers with anything. These once again are a great on-the-go snack, and each flavor tastes amazing on its own. I will definitely be adding the assortment of flavors to my list of gluten-free faves!
Wellaby’s also sent me gluten-free Pita Chips in several flavors, including Italian Herb, Olive Oil & Sea Salt, and Cinnamon Sugar. I have never been a pita chip lover (even in the gluten days), so I am unsure whether this affects my opinion…but I did not like them as much as the crackers. The pita chips had somewhat of a strange taste (in my opinion), and did not tickle my fancy.
All in all, Wellaby’s sure knows how to make a cheese cracker! I suggest trying these amazing snacks as soon as possible! For more information, check out Wellaby’s USA on Facebook.
