The other day I noticed a new (new to me at least) snack on the shelf of my local grocery store called RiceWorks Gourmet Brown Rice Crisp. I’m always on the look out for gluten-free products to review so I grabbed a bag of the two available flavors, Salsa Fresa and Sweet Chili. The Parmesan was sold out so I took this as a good sign.
When I took a bite of these crisp I was a bit surprised because they are brown rice based. However closer examination of the ingredients revealed corn as the secret behind the rice crisps crunchy texture. The rice is the primary ingredients so its flavor is still very noticeable. The corn presence simply adds a much needed firmness and crunchiness to these crisp.

The two varieties I tried were both packed with flavor. The Sweet Chili crisp reminded me of a mild chili sauce with just enough heat to balance out the sweetness. The Salsa Fresa crisp processed a strong flavoring of tomatoes, peppers and spices. Both flavors complimented the texture and taste of the rice crisp they coated.
RiceWorks comes in 6 different flavors; Sweet Chili, Sea Salt, Salsa Fresca, Parmesan, Wasabi, and Baked Cinnamon. In addition to being gluten-free these all varieties of these snacks are also low in fat, salt, and sugar and contain no preservatives or additives.
